Bowls match

A great start to the season with Streatham Park coming down and having a very good match at Hove and Kingsway.

The rain threatened to dampen the day but a strong resolve and some waterproofs made it a warm and welcome visit.

We look forwards to travelling back to see them at the end of the month.

mayor opens bowls greens

Pete West kindly joined us at C and D greens to officially open Hove and Kingsway Bowling Club for the new season.

We had a roll-up and of course Pete won.

Pete is a strict vegetarian and runs campaigns for better eating. Alexis did us proud by having a fine spread of mostly vegetarian (and very varied lovely) food, with a few sausage rolls for the meaters! Big thanks to the Mayor for getting the ball(s) rolling. He also encouraged unto join in the “Take Part” projects which allows people to sample small tasters of various differing sports.

You can have a look here at what Take Part stands for. I’m sure we will get our bowls club into the agenda shortly.

The Mayor was impressed by our steps for gaining access to greens.
